Something is wrong, the Google Search Result from my blog looks bad, don’t laugh please :D

I was checking my blog’s pages which are already indexed on the Google Search and I spotted some of the items there are look really-really bad. It gets me to realize that I am not doing the best yet in optimizing this blog for search engines. Then I asked myself “Do I exactly know how to get a better result in SEO?“, the answer is “No, I have idea at all…” but it won’t stop me from doing search and research to get the best result in SEO with an appealing look without ignoring that I am also building this blog for human like you.
Well, I guess I am talking too much, right? :D OK, lets start with Google Search. As I said before that most of the items shown there are looking bad. Means they’re not appealing enough to persuade the searchers to click it. Following are the reasons why I said they’re not appealing enough:
The Modified Version of phoogle WordPress plugin - Eliminating the needs of Exec-PHP
Posted by Daniel - 1,069 Views
This is the modified version of phoogle plugin for WordPress. phoogle is a WordPress plugin to display Google Map within your post. The Original version requires the installation of Exec-PHP, another wordpress plugin to allow the execution of php script on your post.
I don’t have Exec-PHP installed and I have no intention to install it, so here it is the result of my modification on the original phoogle. Now it doesn’t require Exec-PHP and I am glad I had it done. Usage Example can be found here.
If you are wondering what kind of modifications I did so phoogle can display the Google Map without the Exec-PHP, here is the explanation:
Several tips to reduce Blog Noise, especially when your blog covers more than one niche
Posted by Daniel - 1,965 Views
This tips is useful for personal blogs, it can also be applied to other types of blog covering more than one niche focus or when you intend to include another niche to support the main focus, but mostly on personal blogs. It can also be considered as a complement for “Creating a user friendly website” but it focusing more on the content structure rather than on the design aspect. I don’t have any solid written definition yet on what exactly “Blog Noise” is but I hope you will get the point after reading this post.
I like to do blog walking, spend a regular time passing by on another blog especially on personal blogs while at the same time working on my social campaign by writing a comment on blogs with the same niche as mine or when it covers an interesting topic which is good enough to be ignored.
One thing I noticed when visiting other’s blogs is, most of them are noisy, not because they cover more than one topic but it’s more on the presentation. I still can see it covers 1 niche focus with lets say 3 related areas but it scattered all over the place. Just like when you have 30 cards with 3 different colors and then you throw those cards on the floor at the same time. You still can see there are 3 colors but it’s hard to locate and remember the position of each color group right?
Take this blog as an example, please assume as it yours. It covers more than one topic: Blogging Related Stuff, Programming Tips and Software Collections. Then consider the following case:
How to remove your indexed pages or even your entire site from Google and Yahoo!
Posted by Daniel - 3,962 Views
The idea to start writing this post was started a couple months ago when I began to migrate my previous blog to this blog. I am amazed by WordPress Blogging Platform for its simplicity, plug-n-play feature and the ease of maintenance BUT My previous blog - which is still active for .NET experiment purposes - is using windows based server with no PHP and MySQL installed so there is now way to have a WordPress based blog on that server, SO I decided to get a linux based hosting service in order to be able to setup a WordPress blog, and here it is my current blog powered by WordPress.
Another reason why I decided to migrate is because I want to develop my blog but I don’t want the process distract my focus on my main job. With WordPress I can get the speed. For single needed feature there are so many plugins available to be plugged with little efforts and there are plenty of support I can get from the community.
OK enough with the opening story, let’s get into the main issue. There are pages from my previous blog which are indexed by Google and Yahoo! With the release of my new blog I want those indexed pages from my previous blog deleted from their index. Is it possible?
How to easily display a cute Google Map inside your WordPress Post
Posted by Daniel - 1,810 Views
Google Map in your WordPress post? Yup, I think it’s going to be cute especially if you are blogging on topics about about traveling. I had been searching for a plugin to get a simple and easy implementation of google map into the WordPress post and yes I found it. It’s called phoogle plugin created by Justin Johnson & Chris Peneguy. It’s a good plugin with a sophisticated admin panel BUT it has a downside: it needs the Exec-PHP to be installed. Exec-PHP is a plugin which allows you to run php scripts inside your post.
If you already have Exec-PHP or similar plugin installed for some reason, you can just use the original phoogle plugin which you can get it here.
But if you don’t have Exec-PHP installed and have no intention to install it, I have a good news: Now you can use my modified phoogle plugin so you can display the Google Map without the need of Exec-PHP.
